Tarot Tag

Hello my peeps :)

I realized that I had deleted this post few months ago while I was cleaning my blog drafts.. So, for a little summerize. These questions is from Avalon's Spiritual Odyssey
Please pay her a visit on her YouTube channel and if you are into Tarot and all that.. Worth the visit :)

Here is my answers to the questions

1. What initially drew you to Tarot and how old were you?
- When I was a young girl a cousin of mine had a friend who had visited a tarot reader and I don't know the reading was, but I was told that the tarot reader said to this man at the end: you will not see your 25th birthday. This man died in a car crash on this 25th birthday. I remember that I thought: wow, how exciting... (I felt bad about the man who lost his life), can she see that from the cards? What else can she see? I want to learn to do that.
- I have always been drawn to the unknown, mysthical things, occult if you like.

2. When did you acquire your first personal tarot deck?

- The first time I got my first tarot deck when I was 22-ish. It was just ordinary no-brand tarot deck that came along the book "Tarot" by Jane Lyle.

3.Are you a fan of the RWS or Thoth Systems?

- To be completely honest? RWS. I have never owned a Thoth deck, but it is on my wish list. I do not do readings with RWS very well for some strange reasons. But when I bought the Sharman-Caselli deck it finally clicked. I have found my go-to-deck.

4. What type of Tarot reader are you?

- I am a type of a reader who try to inspire with my readings. I don't say something that can be disturbing to  others, like the reader who told her client that he would not be older than 25. I will not ever do that because it is disrespectful toward the client.

5. Do you use Tarot for Pathworking, Meditation, Manifestation etc

-

6. Do you do Daily Draws

- Sometimes I get in a roll where I do daily draws for a week or two, then I don't do for a while. It goes in circles.

7. Do you utilize a Tarot Journal and if so what are the benefits of a Tarot journal in you opinion?

- Yes, I have started to do a tarot journal. It helps me to see where I need to get better and when I flip back I can see the spread with new eyes and also give myself a better reading than the first one. When I do that I will write in a side note. I also write my daily draws (when I do them), but I often forget to check end of the day/week.

8. Would you consider yourself a Tarot collector or do you stay true to one or two decks only.

- I see myself a tarot collector. There are so many beautiful decks, but I do buy a deck every once awhile.

9. How do you bond with a deck?

- When I get a deck I study them and admire them to pieces without laying any spreads..I don't work with them at all. Then I put them away till they are calling me. Take my Grimoire deck for instance, I had it since January and it hasn't called me yet.. it may or it may not.

10. Do you cleans, bless, empower etc your decks?

- I haven't done that with my cards yet.

11. Do you adhere to any tarot superstitions

-   I don't remove cards from my decks because I believe they are in the deck for a reason and I do read the if they come out reversed.

12. Do you integrate Significator cards into you readings?

- I usually don't do that, but if the client prefer that I will leave that in.

13. Do you prefer to use spreads or do you read free form?

-  I use spreads because I am not good at free form my readings.

14. What is your Tarot Birth card?

- My Tarot Birth card is the Devil

15. What is your favorite Tarot card

- It was difficult because I don't have only one favorite. I love the Strength, the Hermit, nine of cups and the ten of cups. I finds it strange since "my cards" are the Pentacles.

16.What deck are you currently working with a present?

- I am now working with Chrysalis Tarot deck

17. What is your favorite Tarot deck in this moment in time

- In this time I love the Sharman-Caselli.

18. What is your least favorite Tarot deck

- The Grimoire Tarot deck and that is because they haven't called me yet.

19. What is your cheekiest deck

- I don't have a cheeky tarot deck.

20. Do you own any self published decks

- The tarot decks that I can think of is Doreen Virtue's Angels Tarot deck and healing with Faeries oracle Deck

21. What is your Tarot pet peeve?

- That has to be when I tell people that I do, they want a reading right there and then... especially if I not ready or prepared for it.
- Especially when people expect a free readings from strangers (okay, I do free readings close family and close friends).

22. Do you believe that you can give yourself an accurate reading on a matter your are heavily invested in?

- Yes and no. I find it very difficult to give myself an accurate reading period. I have no problems to that to other people. Three card spread I can do, when it comes to bigger spreads like the Celtic Cross or the 6 months spreads - no

23. Have you studied Numerology, Kabbalah, Astrology as part of you Tarot studies?

- I have been reading about that without really study the topics, but I will do it some time in the future

24. What are your opinions on Tarot and divination

25. Have you ever lost or damaged a Tarot deck?

- Yes, I was starting to lose few cards from my very first deck, then I started to punch holes and put them in my filofaxes :)
- My most recent deck.. I have misplaced three cards from  my Chrysalis Tarot Deck

26. Have you ever inspired another to want to learn Tarot

- I have a bestie who find this very interesting, but don't want to invest in a deck... Her Birthday is coming up in August ;)

27. Do you use Tarot in conjunction with any other esoteric/divinatory tools

- I do use pendeleums and I do runes

28. What is a personally Tarot No No, something that crosses the boundaries of your personal code of Ethics?

-I have few code of ethics:
  • I don't read for anyone who is under the age of 18
  • I am NOT a psychic so I can't communicate with those who has crossed over.
  • I don't predict the future
  • I do not answer specific questions about matters of the law, financial issues or health queries.
  • I don't read on behalf of someone else that is not aware of it.
  • If I do face-to face reading I expect the client NOT to be under the influence of alcohol/pills/other drugs
  • If I feel a person is more up for an arguement than a reading, I'll stop the process and give back the money - My life and my time is too valuable so I want to give reading for those who want a reading and guidence.
29. If you could give one piece of Tarot advice to another, perhaps a beginner, what would it be?
- Put off time to learn the cards like you would studying for a class/test or schedule it like it is a job. practice! practice! practice! If you thinking you would like to do this for a living, treat this like a job and apologize for it when you want money for the job because you don't run a charity!

Blessed be

Susann :)

Review of the Sharman-Caselli Tarot Deck

Hello lovelies,

It seems to be another sleepless night so I can review one of my tarot decks and today it is Sharman-Caselli deck. I must say that this deck have blown my mind in ways I can not describe. I have learned so much the last two to three weeks than I have the last four months.

I had tried to learn tarot fo a long time and about 1999-2001 I bought my first deck together with a book "tarot" by Jane Lyle. I tried and tried - and "failed" and I felt nothing would stick and I became confused and angry at myself because I "couldn't" learn the tarot. So I sadly gave up and I hadn't touched a tarot deck for 10 years or so. What I should have done is to buy another deck, but I didn't have enough knowledge about tarot because I had one thought in my head and that was if I didn't learn from deck I won't learn from another deck. THAT IS SO WRONG! I know that now, but I didn't knew it then.

When I bought the sharman-Caselli deck I thought it was a nice deck and it came in a sturdy box which contain the 78 card deck and the little white book. Ok.. so, the book are a little book , but still it is one of the better ones I have seen. First of all it gives you an introduction and then it goes into the minor arcana. Along with the minor arcana they give you what element is where..Cups are water, wands are fire, pentacles are earth and the swords are air. In this book they give you the meaning of every card + they give few clues on what the symols on the cards means.

Let us see a card and I picked Eight of pentacles.. this man is in his workshop making pentacles and
he have eight of them. It represent work and he takes pride in his work. He is concentrated and has an eye for details or he is not afraid to take on a new project or task. There are no clouds on the sky (clouds can mean confusion, not knowing, thoughts - depends on what neighbour cards). The trees are not moving so there is no wind. Wind often represent energy and it depends if you have the wind with you or against you. The trees can represent shelter, regeneration, strength. For me the trees also represent roots, knowledge, visdom. So, for me the eight of pentacles represent a good day for business.
At the bottom of every card there is a theme and for the eight of pentacles it is learning new skills.

The Major arcana is represented the same way as the minors, it gives you five or so pointers of meanning + a theme at the bottom of each card. Like the card number 9 - the Hermit (or like I like to call him, Gandalf.. :) ) and the hermit's theme is patience and prudence.
After the majors there a spread at the end and kudos to Sharman and Caselli for not choosing the celtic cross, like 95% of the other authors do.
Sharman chose the 5 cards horseshoe spread which they show you an example a reading for Cathrine. Like the other little books there is 6 note pages where you can write your notes.

One of things I didn't like at first was overused with the yellow and orange. There is not numbers at the majors.. I can't put my fingers on what I didn't like about it and I was thinking I would give this a new home, so I put on my shelf and I forgot about them for a while.

For a month or so I took the deck held it in my hand while I took a quick meditation and my thought was: it's time! So I started to do 3 card readnings for myself, started to trust my instict and intuition (refused open the books like I always do). I also put the deck back in order and did the same with the Rider Waite Smith Tarot deck and for the fist time in my life I compared each card. I noticed that I got more out of Sharman-Caselli. So I have been working non-stop with this deck for two to three weeks now and it became my go to deck.

One of the things I like about this deck is how detailed the cards is and it has alot more symbols so you really could find your meaning of these.
Yes, I still think it is a lot of yellow/orange in this deck, but I feel spring and summer - I will work with these till the fall and see where I am and choose my decks for autumn/winter:)

Blessed be,
Susann

Questions you may have when you start with tarot..

I found these questions on a Norwegian website and also I had someone ask me similar questions, so I wanted to answer them because I am sure someone may wonders on these questions.

1) How do you teach yourself to read tarot?
- There no right or wrong answer this question, but there are few tips you can do to make it a bit easier. Here is a tip I picked up by Arwen Lynch, who is tarot by Arwen on youtube
  •  You could shuffle the cards and draw one card and look at it and put it away for now and go on with your day and pay attentions to the details throughout the day, when the evening comes you can take the card again and read the meaning of the card from the booklet that came along the tarot deck or if you bought/borrowed a more indepted book you can read the meaning.
  • If you meditate, you can draw a card meditate over it or you can put it under your pillow and sleep on it.
  • you can have a tarot journal (this is a blogpost I plan to do) and write YOUR description of the card. Your description is not necessarily same as mine and the other way around. A great tip is when you have a description from a card and please stick with it because you have a one description one day and another one the next day, it makes learning a bit harder and more difficult + it gives you more work (I have been there and done that )
2) Is it wrong to learn tarot by reading books?
- No! If you learn better that way so why not and you can read several books so you can see different authors interpretations and you can find your own.

3) Should I cleanse my cards before I use them?
- yes, I would recommend you to do so because I believe the tarot deck has your energy and you have the energy from the tarot deck.

How you cleanse your deck is up to you, you can meditate while you shuffling, you can have a crystal stone or pendeleum (if you are into crystals) on top of your deck. you can energize your cards by sunlight and/or moonlight. There are many ways you can do this topic if you take a google search :)

Another question is when to cleanse the decks and you would know when to cleanse them, but a few tips will be
  • When you get a new/used deck (espesially if you have a used deck because it may have previous owners energy to them)
  • When you accidental drop the deck or few of the cards on the floor
  • If you had a reading and you had a "difficult" client
  • If you have a lot of negative energy in your life
  • If you haven't used them in a awhile
  • If you had a draining tarot reading
  • if you just want to reconnect with your cards
4) How do I know if a card is positive/negative if all of the cards is the same way?
- As the time goes by and you learn the meaning of these cards, you will know the cards energy.

5) How do I know when I use my intuistion or if this is only wish thinking?
Like the answer above so

6) Is it possible too hung up in these cards?
-I don't believe so since you are aware of this question.

7) No one understand why I do tarot and like I am not normal.
- I can relate to you on this, there is not many people who know that I can read tarot. The reason is because I don't want to answer why I do it, I don't want to feel I have to justify it. I told someone in my early twenties what I do, this a****le of a person told me that he had a sister-in-law and she did a tarot read once and she "lost her marbles". She had to have serious psychic help for years after that. The bitch in me almost came out said :"maybe she became nuts long before she picked up the tarot deck". Let say I didn't believe his story at all :)

8) Is it bad luck to do a tarot reading on yourself?
No, When you stating out with a tarot deck you need to practice and you need to get to know the cards + the cards have to get to know you. You don't starting out being great at tarot reading two seconds after picking up the deck ;)

9) Is it bad luck if my cards lands on the floor?
Bad luck, no, but you do need cleanse them all over again ;)

10) How does tarot works, since all I do is to draw radoms cards?
This is not a science, but there something special with the spiritual aura with these cards. It may be that the card drawing is just random or if you believe there is nothing like random things in this life.

11) Is it a bad thing to do a tarot reading on their selves too often
- No, the only thing that comes to my mind is that if you do to often the messages can be a bit confusing. An advice is to wait few days before you do the next reading, Not a must, but an advice.
A thumb rule can be that you don't do a tarot read on the same question before there have been a change in the situation.

12) Is it possible to use a deck that had a previous owner?
-Yes, just cleanse them and get to know them. Back in good and really old days, you are not supposed to buy youself a tarot deck. They are supposed to be given to you like a present.
  13) What does all the symbols on the tarot cards mean?
- The symbols means somthing, like clouds can mean confusions, rain can mean cleansing, cities can mean community, scale mean equality

14) Shall I put the cards back in order after I done a reading?
-That is entirely up to you. Me? I do put them back randomly and do couple of shufflings - do my shuffling routine when I am ready to use them again.

Like I said earlier in this blog post, there is no right or wrong answers, This/these tarot deck(s) you have - You do what you want with them because it is your decks and you do it you way.

Review Angel Card Tarot by Doreen Virtue & Radleigh Valentine

Hello Tarot angels and I hope you have a wonderful and peaceful weekend

I want to do a review of one of the decks I got in the mail few days ago and that is Angel Tarot Cards by Doreen Virtue who is a an American author and a "folk psychology motivational speaker". She is the founder of Angel Therapy, a type of New Age therapy based "on the premise that communicating with angels is the key to healing (from wikipedia) and Radleigh Valentine is a professional intuitive, speaker, author, spiritual advisor, and a recovering Certified Public Accountant (from radleighvalentine.com). The artwork is done by Steve A. Roberts who is an international fantasy artist.

This tarot deck comes in a beautiful solid and durable box. Usually it come with a little booklet where it contains few words of the cards and often the booklet has several languages. BUT what Doreen and Radleigh have done is to include a guidebook on 135 pages. In this book they give you tips how to energize your cards, they give you a spread called the celtic cross and how you read it, as well as meaning of this card.

I found a clip of an interview with Doreen and Radleigh on YouTube that I will include in the end of this blog post. In that clip Doreen was explaining why she wanted to create a new tarot deck, she found herself uncomfortable with some of the cards so she removed them ended up with a deck with nine cards an that was one of the reasons she wanted to create a tarot deck was positive, up lifting with beautiful art.

I haven't felt any uncomfort with curtain cards or suits, but I do feel uncomfort towards a complete deck. I will write a blog post on this on a later time.

What she also did was rename some of the cards she was uncomfortable like for instance card number 0 - the fool has been renamed the dreamer, number 5 - the hierophant has been renamed to unity, the number 12 - The hanged man is awakening in Doreen's deck, the number 13 - Death has morphed into release, card 14 - Temperance is now balance, Tarot number 15 has become Ego and the judgement card has become renewal.

This deck of tarot also have different colour, like the major arcane has a deep purple color. The suit of
Earth (The Penticles) is green, like the earth and nature is green. The Penicles is often about finance and money and many associate that with the color green. The suit of Air (the Wands) have a dark bluish color.......... The suit of Water (the Cups) has an ocean blue colour and the last suit of Fire (the Swords) has a red color and what I connect with that is power, courage, fight for what you want, hang in there and you will get through it.

For those who don't have one of Doreen's decks, I can tell you that this is a bad ass deck! It is HUGE
cards. I can't shuffle all of them one go and I have medium to large hands for a woman. It reminds me of oracle cards. One other thing that I noticed is that the sides of these cards has this silver shine to it and it go so well with this deck. The picture on the right is the Sharman-Caselli Tarot deck (a review of this deck will be posted next few days) which is a more or less a stadard size of a tarot deck.

Each card has a written meaning that can be at help especially if you are a beginner at tarot and every card in the major arcana has an arch angel. Arch Angel Michael is presented two or three cards like the card number 21 - The World - in the major arcana is the same artwork that is on the back of the cards. Every time I spend time these angel cards I find something new and I learn something new. I have noticed I grab this deck more than other deck I own.

I will end this post with Doreen Virtue and Radleigh Valentine and before I start rambling about all kind of things that hasn't nothing to with this blog post.

Blessed be,
Susann

P.S.. DISCLAIMER: I have bought this tarot with my own money or I don't get paid to post this review!

Review of Anne Stoke's Gothic Tarot Deck

Today I want to review Anne Stoke's tarot deck that also came in the mail yesteday :) When I saw this deck online I knew I wanted it just because of the at art work. I have seen a few reviews on these deck, some like it and some doesn't. I also came a cross someone called this a novelty deck, took some pictures, smashed into a so-called tarot deck and told people not to buy that unless you wanted a novelty deck. I think that was a bit cruel, but that is just my opinion.

These tarot cards doesn't have the tradional pictures, but then again that is the charm of tarot because there are so many to choose from:) I live in a place where we don't have shop who sells insence or tarot or crystals, so if I want to have these things I need to order them online. Yes, it are few moments of "buy and regrets"... well, you live and learn :)

I saw in a review of this  deck that the person didn't like the "flimsyness" (is that even a word??) and I know am throwing gas onto the fire here, but these cards aren't much different than the Raider Waite deck, in thickness I mean.
I have shuffled them alot and I cant see a few tiny spots of wear and tear, but that is expected in my opinion.

Another feature on these cards it has four languages: English, German, French and Spanish. It can confuse some people, but I think it is a cute touch.
The gothic tarot is not a big deck and here you can see it together with my Raider Waite card. And the back of the card you will see if it is upside down or not, but that doesn't bother me at all.

Will I use them in a reading? It depends on the person who are going to be read and what he/she are comfortable with.

Am I going to use these on a reading fo my self? Yes, I will the hell of them and back. Like I said in my review of the Raider Waite's: it get the job done! You have here 78 card of beautiful art work.

I can see why some don't want to have this deck or don't want a reading from these, because you have a deck of vampires, goblets of blood, dragons, pretty women, handsome men, skulls, unicorn, skeletons and so on.

I wouldn't recommend this to a beginner since few of the cards a bit confusing for example the card The Tower, in Raider Waite deck you can see what it represent, but in the Gothic deck you don't automatically see what it is.

I haven't had any readings from this yet, just shuffling, get know the cards and felt the energy from it.
I will work on it shortly and I will let you know how it works out :)

Till then, have a great weekend and Blessed be,

xoxo

Tarot review of Rider Waite Tarot

Today I want to show you what I got in mail today and I got my Raider Waite Tarot deck.

Raider Waite Tarot deck was originally published in 1910 by William Raider & son in London. The year after A.E Waite put a small guide with the deck called "The Key to the tarot" and it was an overview of the traditions and history behind the cards.
Today this is a very popular deck world wide amongst tarot readers - From the beginners to the most experienced reader.

I was pleased to see that this is a Norwegian edition deck and I was also suprised to see that the court cards had been given names of the  elements. Ace of swords became the Ace of the air (Luft Sverdet), The Knight of Cups became The Knight of Water (vann knekten), The Queen of Wands became The Queen of Fire (Ild Dronningen) and The King of Penticles became King of Earth (Jord Kongen). It shouldn't be any problems to read the pictures since the pictures haven't been changed. This is a big deck and I have big hands and I had some problems with the shuffling the first five minutes, but it got bette more I tried :)
The measurements of these cards are 7x12 cm and the cards is not thick I thought it would be, but hey it does the job done :)

This is a beautiful deck, it is great for beginners and you have no problem to see what the pictures are representing. If you are a beginner to tarot I recommend you to also buy a book or go to the library to loan one. There are a small booklet with the card and it contains few words on each card - no, booklet doesn't give you a examples of spreads you can try.

This post is just a first time review of this tarot because I haven't worked with them so much yet. So an update will be done soon as I have done a few readings with them :)

Blessed be,

xoxo, Susann

Topic of the day: Runes

Hello fairies :)
Today I want to talk a bit of runes.
I have always been interested in runes, vikings and Norse Mythology because it is a part of the Scandinavian history and Norwegian folklore.

I was searching on Ebay for runes, but I didn't want a set of runes like everybody elses. So I thought i would go to the beach find myself 24 stones... but it is winter and our beach is covered in snow and ice, I don't think so. I could cut off a branch... Did I mentioned it was winter, we have snow and we have few plus degrees? I have to forget those plans for another few months and let the trees come into summer mode first :)

LIGHTBULB!!!! I have few decorative stones that I have around candle lights, so I could use them. I get to use something personal and I didn't spend a lot of money:) yay.

What I did was separate the clear one from the purple... and suddenly I had two sets of runes. I took a super thin paintbush and painted the symbols with my gold nail polish just because I thought it would look better this way than with a black sharpie.

All I need to do now is to clense them and give them power.

I am looking forward to use them as a tool in my every day life.

You don't have to use a lot of money to practice magick or your religion. You may discover that things you believe in and things you have done for years, but didn't  knew there was a religion till now.

Where I live there are not a shop where I can buy incense, tarot decks, runes, books and all of that... not that I need it to practice my belief, but it is a helping tools. I can order stuff on the internet or I can get inventive with my stuff :) Order books online can be very expensive so I do the next best thing and I google a lot of thing and printing stuff out and I even search on Pinterest for things. library can be a good place to start. Then again they may not have a huge selection on books of witchcraft and such. You can also make own tarot deck, print it from the internet or if you are a crafter, you could get a good quality cardstock and make the 78 cards or oracle deck if you want. The positive side is that you get you own unique deck that no one else have and the size you want. The downside it may take some time to make them:)

I just wanted to show you all my little lightbulb moment (genious points for those of you who know said: LIGHTBULB!!)
I will leave you here, wishing  you a good day and I sending you some sunshine:)

Blessed be:)

Welcome to my new blog

Hi and welcome to my new blog. This blog will be about tarot, unboxing and reviews of tarot decks, spreads of tarot, meaning of cards and all the wonderful tarot brings.

This is the first time I have considered to start a blog about tarot just I never have seen myself good enough to read cards or I don’t want to let everybody I know what I do due to personal reasons. There are two (or maybe three people) who know.. My husband and my bestie. The reason I choose to write this in English instead of Norwegian is because I will reach a lot more people with English and on an internationally scale the tarot community are so much bigger + I get to practice my English :)

I always wanted to read cards and few years ago I bought a tarot book and a deck that went with it    (Tarot by Jane Lyle). Sadly I didn’t give it my 100% and  is because I wasn’t ready for my journey - and  I lost my tarot deck after due a lot of moving.

I have decided that 2016 is going to be my year and I see some of YouTubers have word of the year, like count ability, simplify and power – These are strong words and for me? I would put myself up to failure because I would feel it overpowered me before we hit 1st of February (So it would be waste of energy to try).  I also haven’t been big on New Year resolutions for the same reason  - Stop smoking Jan the 1st  among no sugar or candy in 2016, exercise EVERY day, no spend year and so on) . But I have set my resolutions for the year so I will see how it goes - if I fail, better luck next year! One of my resolutions is “do more of the things that make me happy” and here is the tarot comes in. My word for 2016 is ME!

Let’s face it, I need to get my priority straight – to sum it up.. I need to get my shit together in all of my level of life. I know tarot is a great tool to use although they can’t tell you all the answer or this is no quick fix.
